WELCOME to HOGWARTSMOO.NET!

Hogwarts MOO is an alternate-universe Harry Potter text-based roleplaying game. The game started in September of 1999 in the year 1900. We have a fully built grid, including Hogwarts, Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. There are many features to aid in the roleplay experience. We welcome experienced roleplayers and newbies alike! With the game’s 10th anniversary come up this September, we are trying to get as many logs together as we possibly can in order to have a more complete “history” of the IC portion of the game through roleplay logs. If you’ve got any logs that you’d like to submit, please use @mylog on the game to submit them – or if you no longer have a character and would like to submit one anyway, use @issues to do so. (If you already have a character, please use @mylog since this will automatically queue the log to the website, reducing the amount of manual input that the wizzen have to do. Thanks!) We hope to see more logs, old and new, arriving to the website very soon!

We have a new sorting coming up soon! May 3 is the sorting for the coming term. If you want to have a first year at the sorting, April 26 is the deadline to submit your character application. We hope to see lots of people participating, so make sure you get those applications in as soon as possible!

This is another reminder that if you have not signed up for the game, please do not sign up on the website. The website is not the game. Please visit the About, Connect, and Help pages for more info.

We experienced an outage today, which lasted approximately twelve hours. The game is back up now. We are still awaiting word from the host regarding the cause for the downtime. No data has been lost as far as we can tell.

All back logs from the old website as well as any logs submitted since logs stopped posting to the old website have been re-posted. If you are a player and find that a log of yours is missing, please send it to *logs on-game so that we can get the log posted.

HogwartsMOO.net now has a new theme with many thanks to WPDesigner.com. The designer of the old theme admitted to having dishonest practices with his free themes, so we decided that we needed a change. Nothing other than the theme has changed. Functionality should remain exactly the same.

This is a reminder: Do not register for the blog unless you have a character on the game already. Your account will otherwise be deleted in an effort to avoid spam.

Sorting is over. Character creation and approval is now back to its normal schedule. Please keep in mind that it still may take longer than usual for as long as two weeks.

September 1, 2007

The sorting is a week from today! Even if your character cannot participate on-camera, you are welcome to attend and participate as an NPC. Sorting days are historically the most busy RP days that our game experiences, and we expect that this one will be no exception. Everyone is welcome to join in the start of term festivities!

Even if your character cannot participate in the sorting on-camera, characters are still being approved for the already quite large group of PC first years for the coming term. If you would like to make a character to participate in the first year, you are more than welcome to create one at any time. Please keep in mind that character approval may take a little bit longer over the course of this week, as players and admin alike are preparing for the sorting day.

When registering for the blog, please first make a character, and then create your login here. Logins created with usernames that have absolutely no relation to any character, and no indication which character it belongs to will be deleted without question. Many thanks.

Welcome to the newly redesigned Hogwarts MOO website! Yes, we’ve redone it once again. This is in hopes that we will be much more easily able to keep it updated, and that it will be easy on the eyes as well.

Please note that we have moved the requirement for approval for this sorting up. Typically it is only one week, but this year, the cutoff date for your character to appear on-camera at the sorting is August 21 by 11:59PM MOO time. We have had an exceptional number of new players in the last month or so, and in order to ensure that the sorting will be at the quality that players usually enjoy, the administration has been forced to move the date forward to allow more time for preparation. Please plan your character application process accordingly. Any characters approved after this date may watch the sorting OOCly or play an NPC at the sorting, but their characters will not be sorted on-camera.

We’re working on getting all logs transferred over to the new site. It will be a long process, so please have patience with us! Hogwarts MOO Guides are welcome to volunteer. Please send an in-game mail to Andromeda if you are interested.

We’ve moved to a new host! The game is now graciously hosted by Genesis Muds. The domain should transfer over in a few days, and in the meantime, we’ve been diligently working on getting the website up to date, and inputting a new system for logs posting. We’ll keep you updated when we’ve got that ready to share! The administration is very excited about some of the changes that are to come, and hope the players will be, too.
